At The New State, we’re building a creative community where talent is nurtured, hard work is rewarded, and opportunities are accessible to all. Your support for our 2025 programs directly impacts youth, artists, and the future of Milwaukee’s creative scene.

Through our Youth Earn & Learn internship program, we pay young people to gain hands-on experience in live performance production. Interns learn stage management, lighting, audio engineering, and event planning—all while earning an income to support their growth and development.

In 2025, we’re excited to introduce a DJ Class with DJ HAPA, The DJ Coach, thanks to our partnership with Hal Leonard. This program provides students with professional instruction in DJing, opening doors to creative careers.

Our State Sessions concert series allows local artists to perform and record using professional-grade equipment—completely free of charge—through a partnership with Kneeverland Studios. And because we value their time and talent, we also pay artists for their performances, ensuring they are supported as they grow in their careers.

In the summer, we partner with the Washington Park Wednesday concert series, where youth interns gain invaluable experience working live events, all while being compensated for their contributions.
